Nanaimo Septic Systems arranges onsite wastewater work across 4 communities with no sewer in the Regional District of Nanaimo. Design and filing are carried out by Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioners and professionals authorized under the Sewerage System Regulation, and every new or replacement system is filed with Island Health before construction.
What this operation covers
Four service lines across four communities with no sewer: new system installation, inspections, field repairs and tank servicing, in Cedar and Yellow Point, the District of Lantzville, Nanoose Bay and on Gabriola Island. The common thread is property that treats and disposes on site, which in this region means almost everything outside the city boundary and the six small sewer service areas.
The rules the work runs under
Onsite systems in British Columbia are governed by the Sewerage System Regulation, made under the Public Health Act. Design and filing are the work of an Authorized Person — either a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner registered with ASTTBC, or a Professional registered with a recognized professional association. Island Health receives the filing and the Letter of Certification. No authority approves the design in advance, which is why who signs it matters.
How a quote is arrived at
Not over the phone. Soil depth, slope, well position and access decide what a property can support, and none of the four can be assessed from an address. A site visit produces a written scope, and that scope produces a number. Anyone quoting a septic system before seeing the ground is quoting something other than the work.
